y’all I’ve been at work for the last few hours WHAT HAPPENED TO SPIDER MAN
sony and marvel are renegotiating their deal now that spider man got rlly successful and is making money af. from my research, disney wanted a bigger cut. sony said no and backed out of a deal with disney, saying disney won’t be allowed to produce any more spider man movies. what that means is no more spider man in the MCU. but it appears sony is considering doing more solo movies with tom holland as spider man regardless of disney’s involvement.
thats just what i’ve gathered
there was a ‘leak’ from a meeting tho, and most ppl are quite sure it’s disney trying to whip up a scandal to force sony’s hand in negotiations. tbh quite clever, which is why i’m totally ok with it.
fuck sony if they do this.
It looks like it’s more Disney’s fault that Sony tho. Disney was asking for 50%…which is a fuuuuck ton and Sony probs wouldn’t be able to survive if they did it.
At this point I’m betting it’s a marketing scheme. And it’s DIRTY. They (Disney) want to see how fans would react and cause a stir. Now there’s the “chance of coming to a conclusion” where he’s still in the mcu. At this point it’s just pissing me off because it just seems like a dirty way to market. They know that if they lose Spider-Man, they lose more money than they would have lost by not getting a bigger cut from Sony. They’ll be at a greater loss if they lose Spider-Man. So Disney better step the fuck up and get off their high horse and corporate greed.
